Paul’s willingness to step in the ring with a championship boxer has prompted Jack and Ramirez’s short odds. Fury is more of a reality show celebrity than a boxer, but he does classify as a professional cruiserweight regardless. In other words, that means the top three fighters have experience as pro boxers.

Aside from the professional boxers, a rematch against former MMA star Nate Diaz (+600) is possible. Also, Jorge Masvidal (+800), who isn’t under contract with the UFC, has a reasonable enough chance at 11.11%.

Betting Favorites to Fight Jake Paul Next

Before jumping into my best bet, let’s break down the top betting favorites for Jake Paul’s next fight in greater detail:

Badou Jack (+300)

Jack would be the most formidable opponent that Paul has ever fought. The 41-year-old is past his prime, but he remains the WBC cruiserweight champion, despite not fighting for two years. Jack last defeated Noel Mikaelian by a majority decision to win the, 115-113, 115-113, 114-114.

It was a win by razor-thin margins, but Jack was able to retain the strap in May. Overall, the veteran is 29-3-3 with 17 KOs. He lost back-to-back fights against Marcus Browne and Jean Pascal in 2019. The Swede was able to bounce back and win seven consecutive bouts en route to retaining the WBC championship.

Jack’s victory over Mikaelian can’t be described as very dominant. It was a bout that could have gone in either direction. Albeit a bit washed now, Jack is still a talented fighter who could make easy work of Paul. He feels like a much younger at 41 than Chavez Jr. is at 39 years old.

Publicly, Paul has claimed he’ll take on anyone. In his post-fight interview after beating Chavez Jr., he once again went up and down the list and called out potential future opponents, focusing largely on champions, including Jack. He’s done this song and dance before, even setting his crosshairs on Canelo Álvarez.

Jack said he’ll take the easy money to fight Paul but isn’t optimistic about the challenger being serious. I tend to agree with Jack, and Paul isn’t ready to step into the ring with a world-class boxer, even if he’s past his prime.

Tommy Fury (+400)

On February 26, 2023, Fury emerged victorious over Paul via a split decision. It was Paul’s toughest bout to date, and it didn’t turn out well for the YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Paul was, in fact, the betting favorite at -140, but was outclassed by Fury. Tyson’s younger brother rose to prominence for his appearance on the fifth season of Love Island in 2019. Fury sports a record of 11-0-0 in his boxing career, with his latest victory over Bosnia’s Kenan Hanjalic.

That’s a great record for Fury, though he’s been selective in who he fights. Fury’s wins have come against lowly regional boxers who aren’t highly ranked. He is even stingier in his fight selection than Paul these days.

In any event, Fury is one of the several fighters Paul called out recently. His brother, Tyson, is interested in a rematch between the two as well. Paul claims that he offered to fight Fury on Netflix last year, but was allegedly turned down.

Before Paul can step up the ladder to face Jack or Ramirez, beating Fury in a rematch would likely be the best natural progression. This is the most realistic next fight for Paul. If both are interested at the same time, I imagine a rematch could be in the works.

Gilberto Ramirez (+500)

Perhaps just as lopsided as fighting Jack, a bout against “Zurdo” seems like a sure-fire way to bury Paul’s boxing credibility. The 48-1-0 Ramirez holds the WBA and WBC cruiserweight titles after becoming the unified champ in November 2024 with a win over Chris Billam-Smith.

While taking on Jai Opetaia in a unification bout for the IBF title is what true boxing fans want to see, he is happy to fight Paul. Why? Well, the same reason Jack would be thrilled to receive the call: Money. Ramirez is well aware that getting into the ring with Paul is an easy meal ticket.

Ramirez doesn’t have the same draw as a fighter like Canelo or Joshua, but there would be a large contingent of people interested in seeing how Paul does against an active world champion.

Ramirez might be considered an overrated champ among many boxing pundits, but he’s still in a class well above Paul and anyone the YouTuber has faced so far.

I believe Ramirez might be a better matchup for Paul than Jack, so I’d rather take the +500 odds on this wager than the +300 on the favorite. In any case, Ramirez has the talent to embarrass Paul if he’s interested.

Paul might say he’ll fight “Zurdo”, but deep down, I’m not confident he’ll sign his name on the dotted line.

Calling out Anthony Joshua, Gervonta Davis, Canelo, and all the other elite boxers is admirable, but Paul is careful about who he fights. Sans a scripted fight, Paul would get demolished against any of these boxers, including Jack and Ramirez.

The safer choice would be for Paul to schedule a rematch against Fury. Despite Paul’s remarks that he has been ducking and rejecting a fight, Fury said otherwise in December. With a rematch, Paul has a chance to prove the first fight was a fluke, and he’s improved considerably since that loss.

If Paul defeats Fury with ease, he has more of an argument, albeit still small, to challenge the top fighters in the world. Fury’s size and reach would likely give Paul issues again, so I don’t know if it’s a slam dunk by any means, though.

Jack and Ramirez have the potential to end Paul’s boxing career in one round, and I don’t believe the “Problem Child” is ready to let go of the gravy train yet.

The way I see it, a rematch against Fury is the most realistic fight on the board.
